It's just as well we bought the flat next door, as we were running out of balcony. In April, when we sold the London house, we moved a lot of pots to the balcony of the flat, for 'storage'. But the jungle/cottage garden effect is so fetching, we've decided to keep it. Now the balcony next door is a 'pasture green' and already some of the plants seem to be infiltrating it. The effect is so attractive, that the Management Committee at the Point have asked Celia to help with garden maintenance for the development as a whole (i.e. all the beds and pots in the communal areas). Now, where shall we put that barbecue...

Here's the balcony in April, after the plants arrived from London. By June (above) the agapanthus were just opening. The geraniums were going great too. In July, (above right) the hostas were flowering as well.

Left is in early August, before Celia added some softening, with loosestrife, penstemon and gaura (Cherry Brandy). The loosestrife (above and below right) adds a real cottagey look. The phormium below left is another new addition. The wide open spaces of the 2nd balcony are now getting populated (right)
