Autumn is a great time to visit Brownsea island. The red squirrels are much easier to see as they forage for nuts on the ground. And the wildfowl includes migrants, such as this year's flock of 40 or so spoonbills. So we took a trip on 28th Oct 14 to see what we could see.

This was an art installation by artist Mike Fletcher. 200 paper fishes made by local school children illustrate the predicted level of the sea in 2100, due to climate change. Quite a bit of the island will be underwater by then.
Sadly we saw few squirrels, as the place was crawling with noisy kids, it being half term. This was the best shot I got - rather blurred, as the squirrels have an annoying habit of moving as you press the shutter release!
